Yucca Valley is a beautiful white Desert Willow from the south western edge of the Mojave desert. It was found in a high desert wash mixed with Big Berry Manzanita, Bladder sage and near the original Flaming Penny California Fuchsia. The Pink Desert willows that are more often found in cultivation are from the Eastern part of the population and are not this unique white subspecies from California. This is the most fragrant desert willow we have grown. You can really smell this tree in the evening. If you have an outdoor entertaining area or patio that you like to enjoy on a summer evening this is a perfect tree. Yucca Valley Desert Willow is a great fast growing tree for hot interior climates. It's also pretty cold hardy. It needs regular water to get established but then can be pretty drought tolerant. As this is a desert tree it loves summer water. Where it grows in the wild it will often get a lot of its precipitation from monsoonal moisture. This tree is not good along the coast. It needs cold temperatures to go dormant and dry heat to stay disease-free and healthy. This is a great tree for Bakersfield, Fresno, Yucca Valley, and Barstow. Very prolific flowering. Flowers occur right after dormancy in the spring until it goes dormant again in the fall. Extremely tolerant of wind. I once saw a gust of wind flattened the tree completely to the ground. It just bounced back up as good as new. No damage done. Tree matures at 20 to 30 ft.
