'Penelope' Monkey flower has flowers that start out like a mellow Diplacus puniceus and fade to cream like Diplacus longiflorus (pale magenta to pale yellow). The colors are very delicate pastels.
This monkey flower is fine in full sun in coastal California. Should be fine in sunny Los Angeles or San Francisco. In Bakersfield, Fresno or the desert it needs morning sun or even shade. Startling showy along a woodsie path or next to patio. Works well in containers on that Malibu deck or high rise balcony.
