Musk Brush is a low spreading evergreen shrub, that can grow up to three feet high. It has holly- like leaves and blue flowers. Musk Brush can be found on dry serpentinite slopes, in chaparral, in the north coast ranges of California. It is native on serpentinite and associated soils. If your winter rainfall is less than 35 inches, you will have to water extra in the spring to increase it to 35 inches. After the plant is established, the first year, this Ceanothus will live longer without summer water. Musk Brush likes full or part sun and can also tolerate clay soil.
