Spring Azure Butterfly, Celastrina ladon

This little butterfly is a rather startling blue when  it opens its wings moving about the flowers.

Host plants in California  range from Chamise, Fern Bush, Cream Bush, Buckeye, Creek Dogwood, and others. This little butterfly ranges over most of North America in different forms and flavors.
