A small little early spring annual that is a pioneer species in many bad habitats. In the San Joaquin Valley it makes mass displays of bright yellow in areas that are still intact. It will grow in any soil. I\'ve seen it in gravel or alkali clay. It needs full sun. Its rainfall needed to flower is about 5 inches.
